Dr. Lisa Chavez was born and raised in SLC, Utah as the tenth of twelve children. She moved to Seattle in 1989 to study engineering at the UW, but ended up getting her undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology.
She has done neuroendocrinology research in diabetes, and was the principal investigator and instigator for a clinical interventional pilot study of Craniosacral treatment for post traumatic stress. She continues to pursue research along with her clinical practice. She attained her Naturopathic Doctorate degree at Bastyr University, and has studied Homeopathy in India and the U.S.. In addition she has studied and used Ayurveda and Tibetan Medicine in India.
She is currently working on a few writing projects, including a parenting survival book after an extended stay in India with her daughter, where she volunteered her skills in the Tibetan refugee community.
Her clinical experiences in India have renewed her conviction in the power and practicality of naturopathic medicine to effect long lasting amelioration for complex chronic conditions like Type II Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gastric Ulcers, Hypertension, Anxiety, and PTSD .
She particularly enjoys working with the healing power of the body to treat adults and children, and the challenge of treating chronic body-mind conditions like post traumatic stress, anxiety, allergies and neuroimmunohormonal imbalances.
